- The _x_c_o_n_s_o_l_e program displays messages which are usually
- sent to /dev/console.
-
- OOOOPPPPTTTTIIIIOOOONNNNSSSS
- _X_c_o_n_s_o_l_e accepts all of the standard X Toolkit command line
- options along with the additional options listed below:
-
- ----ffffiiiilllleeee _f_i_l_e-_n_a_m_e
- To monitor some other device, use this option to
- specify the device name. This does not work on
- regular files as they are always ready to be read
- from.
-
- ----nnnnoooottttiiiiffffyyyy ----nnnnoooonnnnoooottttiiiiffffyyyy
- When new data are received from the console and the
- notify option is set, the icon name of the
- application has " *" appended, so that it is evident
- even when the application is iconified. -notify is
- the default.
-
- ----ddddaaaaeeeemmmmoooonnnn This option causes _x_c_o_n_s_o_l_e to place itself in the
- background, using fork/exit.
-
- ----vvvveeeerrrrbbbboooosssseeee
- When set, this option directs _x_c_o_n_s_o_l_e to display an
- informative message in the first line of the text
- buffer.
-
- ----eeeexxxxiiiittttOOOOnnnnFFFFaaaaiiiillll
- When set, this option directs _x_c_o_n_s_o_l_e to exit when
- it is unable to redirect the console output.
-
- XXXX DDDDEEEEFFFFAAAAUUUULLLLTTTTSSSS
- This program uses the _A_t_h_e_n_a _T_e_x_t widget, look in the _A_t_h_e_n_a
- _W_i_d_g_e_t _S_e_t documentation for controlling it.

- In order to specify resources, it is useful to know the
- hierarchy of the widgets which compose _x_c_o_n_s_o_l_e. In the
- notation below, indentation indicates hierarchical
- structure. The widget class name is given first, followed
- by the widget instance name.
